Facebook shenanigans

The official line from Facebook is that they don’t allow people to post copyrighted material to their platform. FB won’t hesitate to ban the account of anyone caught infringing others’ copyright.

However, FB seem to implement this rule in some instances but not others.

There are people who post copyrighted works regularly and never have any problems.

Other people post copyrighted works and get banned after a few weeks.

And there seems to be no way to tell who’ll get away with it and who won’t.

What does that mean for me?

It means that you should post your books offsite – some free cloud storage is good for this – then post links to those books.

Is there anything else I should know?

The FB bots visit links to see what’s being posted. It’s recommended, therefore, protect your files with a password and post that alongside your link.

FB randomly banning people for uploading copyrighted material, to their platform, is why we don’t have a Files section in our group.

We’re not trying to be awkward, we’re simply doing our part in helping to protect your account from deletion.
